Abstract: An Ytterbium fiber oscillator is demonstrated comprising a hollow-core photonic
bandgap fiber fusion spliced to single-mode fibers in the cavity generating pulses of 4.1nJ
energy and pulse width of 210 fs.

We investigate the dispersion properties of solid core and hollow core photonic
bandgap fibers and propose a novel, partial reflector layer around the core for dispersion control of
femtosecond optical pulses.
